Living amongst the ruins of our heart

Marol Vallejo- Coffee & manna devotions...

I was reading an article on yahoo yesterday about one man living in a toxic deserted city. He refuses to leave a place knowing that his life is at risk of getting cancer!! What do you think about that? This city used to have a population of 16,000….now a population of 1. According to this man he isn’t leaving because someone needs to be there to tend to the animals that were left behind. In the city of Tomioka, Japan disaster broke out a nuclear power plant let out toxic levels of radiation. I’m sure everyone knows what I’m talking about…..nothing in that city will be good for years, decades. Food that grows there is worthless. The city is contaminated. Yet a man refuses to leave? He knows that this place is no good, and that his life is at stake. Even like that he won’t leave….Wow!

This reminds me about the people in Ezekiel 33:24 and on……..it talks about God wondering why these people chose to live amongst the ruins. A city that was destroyed! The people chose to live in the ruins of their heart. They had their own conspiracies of God, and what he was doing. The people would turn to idols to worship. God couldn’t understand why, but he told Ezekiel something very important he said those that choose to live amongst ruins will die by the sword. You see If we choose to live amongst the ruins…..those things that sometimes linger around in our hearts…..those desires of the flesh we will die. (spiritually)

Sometimes we think we can play with sin, and that we have it under control. The reality is that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. The minute we open the door, and decide to let our old habits into our hearts it’s a seed that will grow. Next time you won’t think twice before you pick up that Michelob Ultra. It gets easier, and easier to just live a life that denies you who you are. You are a overcomer who has been bought by the powerful blood of the Lamb! Before you know it condemnation gets a hold of you, and instead of running to God you begin to run to the substitute. The people living amongst the ruins would say if God gave this land to Abraham and he was one…we are many then it’s ours too! God has something new, and fresh for each of us. He has a divine, unique purpose for you and me. We can’t live amongst the ruins of the past.

In the past maybe you had a ministry that was booming, or maybe you weren’t even saved yet. My point….you can’t live in the past! The past is but a moment in time that you can no longer grasp. Lots of times in our mind, and our heart we think we are holding on to something so tight, but the reality is that those moments are gone. Sometimes we live in regret, and pain. We can’t change the past, but we can have a new future. If we decide to let go of those ruins, and move on from a place that is no good for us. Like this man knows that this city is a wasteland, and he refuses to let go.

Today I want to encourage you to Let Go! Let Go! Let Go! I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that those chains of the past, of drug addiction, be broken off in the name of Jesus Christ! We don’t need to live in ruins……..When Jesus has prepared a place for us in his father’s house. Where there are many, many rooms. Friends don’t let your past keep you from the awesome future Christ has for you. The moment you can walk into your divine blessed purpose is Now! Receive in the name of Jesus! Don’t settle for something that is going to harm you, and can take your life. Receive the goodness of God today. Let him take you into a new glory, and a new city filled with blessings. Until Next time God Bless
