My keys….Where are my keys? Aah!! 15 min. till! Oh man I’m gonna be late…..everyone ready? What you aren’t done? Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? Those “moments” where the heat feels like it’s turned up times 20……..those times when you know you should be patient, but oh……… The time, the kids, my boss, my husband, my car, my neighbor, my professor & the list goes on. What do we do when things get a little ance? How do we react in these” moments” when all we can think & feel is the steam coming out of our ears?
We can do two things one is to respond back with fire. The bible talks about Peter the one who walked on water, and told Jesus he would be with him no matter what would happen. He was in love with the messiah, and all of a sudden something happened that made him Angry, boil……..they were gonna take Jesus from him! Can you imagine your most prized, loved possession to be taken away by someone who would never see the value of what they are taking? Peter responded the only way the flesh knew how to he fought back. (John 18:10) The bible says that he took the sword & cut off the ear of the guy taking away his love, and passion. Pretty aggressive I have to say. He must have really been boiling mad to cut someones ear off.lol Sometimes we can feel like we need to just bite someones head off because they have a big mouth. Sometimes it plain out feels good to come back with a good burn. Its like oh yea you want to mess with me? You don’t know what you are getting yourself into! It’s so easy to fall into the trap. Peter fell into it right in front of Jesus, and when Jesus saw this he was like Hey! What are you doing? (Matthew 26:52) He said those that fight with the sword will die with the sword. In other words if you want to take up your battle, and fight then you won’t overcome because we can’t be victorious without him. Everything we do must be done with him guiding us.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” Psalm 119:105
The other thing we can do is greater than the first. We can be patient, and not respond back at all. ” Better to get angry slowly than to be a hero. Better to be even-tempered than to capture a city.”Proverbs 16:32 Here it’s clearly saying to control yourself as much as you want to just put the situation in its place remember that God will fight your battle for you. All those people who are coming against you will surrender to you. When chaos breaks out remain calm & start meditating on his word of truth. Remind yourself that the bible says No weapon formed against you shall prosper! That the battle isn’t against flesh and blood, but against evil rulers in high places. The devil wants to steal your joy. The joy of your salvation because if he can do that he takes your mind of the promises of God for your life. You then start to live your life in bitterness, anger, rage. Before you know it one dumb thing gone wrong turns your whole day upside down.
Don’t let it happen!!! We are more than conquerers through Christ Jesus! We are living temples of the holy spirit full of peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control, love & so on. We need to remind ourselves of this when everything around you starts to just not be going your way. Remind yourself that the joy of the Lord is your strength, and even if your boss wants to make your day your worst nightmare God is with you. He is working, and making you grow through these little or big circumstances. Every annoying little thing that happens in our day is a lesson to be learned. That lesson being we must be patient…..
”Quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger” James 1:19 Remember we have the power to change our environment we can give in to the way the world responds to things, or respond the way that Jesus did. Patiently Until Next Time God Bless.
